Weekly Wrap-Up Mini

Last night I went to write my Weekly Wrap-Up post, and….. I deleted everything on my camera.  Whoops!  All I have are the photos I had uploaded earlier in the week.  I figured I’d share a few snippets from earlier this week as a mini wrap-up.  Sound good?

An awesome “pb&j” smoothie.

DSC00452

Frozen raspberries and dates with Justin’s Vanilla Almond Butter and unsweetened vanilla almond milk.

Snack-time at work.

DSC00431

Fruit gummies, salmon jerky, pretzels, and applesauce.  Part of this snack was a free sample sent to me from Mary’s Gone Crackers.

DSC00426

The Sea Salt Pretzels are organic, kosher, vegan, and gluten-free.  Their unique texture is a mash-up of whole grain brown rice, quinoa, flax seeds, sesame seeds, amaranth, millet and chia seeds.  A pretty solid ingredient list!  I ate them straight, as well as crumbled into a yogurt bowl, and decided I was a fan.

Another good snack is Ambrosia apples.

DSC00464

I’ve only seen them at Whole Foods this summer but they are worth the extra driving time because they’re so sweet and juicy.

We discovered that there is a Grimaldi’s location just minutes from our house.

DSC00437

We’ve never been to the original DUMBO location, but we were pretty darn impressed with this outpost.  We had a nice house salad.

DSC00440

And a pizza with mushrooms, garlic, and black olives.

DSC00443

The olives were ridiculous good – like little briny prunes!

DSC00445

We will definitely go back.

I actually ended up having pizza for four different lunches and dinners this week so you really didn’t miss much in this mini wrap-up.  The next night I did 1 am pizza after rushing back into the city to see The Stationary Set.

DSC00446DSC00448

My childhood best friend is with the lead singer but this was actually the first time I had heard them play live.  Loooooooved it!  Important to note – I brought a girlfriend who is much cooler than me to the show and she loved them as well.  They have a new album out, I’m buying it this weekend and you should check it out too.

How many days in a row would you guess your longest pizza eating streak to be?

Long Week Wrap-Up; The Perfect Date? I’d Have To Say April 25th.

Woah!  It’s been almost two weeks; this is going to be a loooooong post, and that’s after I cut out a whole bunch of stuff.  I left in lots of coffee, dinners in bowls, and tasty medjool dates.  I’ve had a bad case of the Blogging Blahs recently and I just can’t get myself to sit down and write.  Even though I’m not talking about it much, we have been eating fancy meals and doing fun things.  Like spending last Saturday in Manhattan…

DSC09987DSC09986DSC09990

On our way to the theatre!

DSC09991

We saw Bullets Over Broadway and loved it.  Zach Braff – one of my idols – played the lead and the show was super funny.

Here is some of what’s gone on {my plate} since I last posted – –

breakfasts and lunches

Amazing hot chocolate and a vanilla almond KIND bar.

DSC00027

Smoothie = frozen banana, dates, vanilla almond milk, vanilla almond butter, cinnamon-maple sugar, and vanilla bean paste.

DSC00048

Yogurt bowl.  2% Fage topped with cooked strawberries, chopped date, and pecans.

DSC00089

Yogurt lunch.

DSC00015

Dannon coffee Greek yogurt,

DSC00018

plus dates with sweet and spicy pecans, and an apple.

DSC00020

Super salad.  I packed spring mix topped with blue cheese, sweet and spicy pecans, and chopped apple, then added some Italian dressing from the salad bar at work.  P.S. The cafeteria was on point this week; I bought several cheesy slices of pizza and had creamy lobster bisque with giant pieces of meat.

DSC00044

Lunch with Au Bon Pain.  They sent me some coupons to try out their new late spring menu.

DSC09973

We tried the Sriracha Chicken Sandwich—all-natural chicken with Sriracha sauce, pickled banana peppers, arugula, tomatoes and lemon aioli on a baguette.  Interesting, but not too spicy for the husband.

DSC09975

A Lemon and Sweet Cheese CroisBun – flaky croissant blended with butter bun, filled with sweet cheese and lemon curd.

DSC09978

And an Arnold Palmer with their black currant iced tea.

DSC09981

Everything was really yummy, but we were pretty annoyed because the location we chose was out of the new salads, both of which sounded amazing.

[BBQ Chicken Salad—all-natural chicken marinated in barbecue sauce, romaine, roasted corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, three-cheddar blend and light ranch dressing.  Fresh Fruit & Baby Kale Salad—fresh watermelon, strawberries, mandarin oranges, feta and sliced almonds on a bed of baby kale and balsamic vinaigrette.]

I will not be going back to that location, but I will be heading to ABP for a salad asap.

drinks and desserts

Many iced lattes with my magic milk straws.

DSC00022

Also the cookie dough iced coffee from Dunkin is still great.

DSC09982

And this double espresso over ice – with skim milk and sugar – from Café Dada that filled me with joy.

DSC09966

We are officially giving two thumbs up to Rice Dream’s Horchata.

DSC09914

Adam actually liked it even more than I did.

DSC09917

Still working my way through Buzzfeed’s Frozen Treat’s list; #33 was cholado from Las Americas Bakery.

DSC09920

We got Raspado, shaved ice with homemade fruit syrup and sweetened condensed milk.

DSC09923

Caramel date shake – sea salt caramel gelato blended with dates and skim milk.

DSC00057

Frozen hot chocolate from Tim Horton’s.  Please note – they sent me a free coupon so I could sample this new product.

DSC09924

It wasn’t as good as the frozen hot chocolate, but it was definitely delicious.  We would plan on purchasing them again this summer.  The fudge on top was out of control.

DSC09928

This cookie dough candy was as good as you’d expect it to be.  <– i.e. if that sort of thing sounds good to you then you’ll probably like it but if you thought“dear god, why would you dip cookie dough in chocolate” then you’ll probably think it’s too sweet.  I thoroughly enjoyed half and then was happy to throw the rest away.

DSC00037

Brooklyn Farmacy is officially our new favorite place.

DSC09965

A family restored the 1920’s pharmacy and turned it into a soda fountain heaven.  The music, fixtures, and staff wardrobe are all throw-backs to the ’20s but in a way that is touching and kitschy rather than cheesy (think classy, not Johnny Rockets).

DSC09959

We shared a hibiscus float and a maple egg cream that were both indescribably good.

DSC09961

We practically ordered a second round!

dinners

Farro bowls.  Leftover farro tossed with soy sauce and rice vinegar / sautéed shiitake mushrooms and shredded carrots / sauerkraut sautéed with Sriracha and sugar / sliced cucumber / and a fried egg.

DSC09898

Here it is before the egg went down.

DSC09895

Pasta bowls.

DSC09906

Whole wheat linguine / spinach and roasted broccoli / sauce made of a raw egg cracked into the hot pasta plus a splash of milk and huge handful of shredded swiss cheese / topped with panko fried with evoo, smoked paprika, and truffle salt.

DSC09912

Burrito bowl at Calexico.  Rice / black beans / guacamole / cojita cheese / avocado sauce / and jalopeños.

DSC00039

Old-school burger and fries at Bareburger.  Turkey burger – on a bun! – with pickle chips, tomato, lettuce, mayo, and ketchup.  Just like a McDonald’s burger from when I was a kid.

DSC00052DSC00054

Cheese plate!  Assembled entirely of items from Trader Joe’s.

DSC09936

Dates, salmon jerky,

DSC09940

orange slices, pear,

DSC09942

rosemary crackers,

DSC09948

and Italian truffle cheese.

DSC09945

The cheese was an early appetizer for our sushi night.

DSC09952

I got a pickle veggie roll and a non-authentic fried stuff roll.  Both were only ok.  We had sushi a couple of times over the past weeks and none of it has been very good.

A fancy dinner, after our date at the theatre, at Stone Park Café.

DSC09995DSC09998

We started with a salad of baby arugula, toasted pecans, artichoke hearts, and blue cheese vinaigrette.

DSC00005

And the scallop and marrow tacos.  Uggggh.  These were insane.

DSC00002

I had seared Catham cod with Odessa eggplant, baby bok choy, and lemon gremolata.  Apparently this was the first time I tasted cod outside of fish and chips?!  SPC is one of our favorite restaurants in the city so I know this was good, but I wasn’t a big fan.

DSC00012

Adam’s dinner blew mine out of the water.  Butternut squash and thyme ravioli with brown butter, pine nuts, and mixed mushrooms.

DSC00008

Thankfully he was very generous with shared bites.

Are you sick of this post yet?  That’s all she wrote!

Weekly Wrap-Up; Recipes, Redone

Hey there!  I’m a few days late with this post because the dog had a vet appointment late Thursday night.  He had to get about a million shots – we did all of his blood draws and vaccinations in one fell swoop – but was such a little trooper.  He is so freaking cute!

Things were good with the human members of the house as well.  I remade two of my old recipes this week with great success.  It was a busy but satisfying week at work.  And now my brother-in-law is here to play! I’m saving our Friday night fun for Monday’s weekend post, but here is the last week…

breakfast

Tropical smoothie.

DSC09610

Crushed pineapple, frozen banana, toasted coconut, and vanilla almond milk.  I should have added nutmeg to this because that’s what I put on my piña coladas.

Fancy fruit salad.

DSC09646

This salad was insane and I need to make it again immediately.  Blackberries, minneola, lime juice/zest, maple syrup, toasted coconut, and hemp hearts.

DSC09651

Plus a Blueberry Oat Almond THINaddictive.

DSC09648

The thin was part of a sweet box of samples that Nonni’s sent me.

DSC09618

Their sweet and crunchy biscotti almond thins – which have only 100 calories per package and less than 2 grams of saturated fat – are out in two new flavors: blueberry oat and banana dark chocolate.  I was a fan of both.

lunch

Asian and apples.

DSC09588

My Pad See Ew leftovers were still great cold.

DSC09596

With Brown Sugar Sea Salt Seaweed Snacks and a Lady Alice apple.

DSC09593

I made my own to-go oatmeal bowls this week! 1/3 cup of rolled oats and 1 Tbsp of malted milk powder, plus toppings.  I took them to work in glass Tupperware and then put enough hot water (for the tea in the cafeteria) in the bowl to just cover the oats.  By the time I got back up to my department they were perfect!  I will probably still buy the packaged ones as well, but this was a very exciting development.

DSC09624

Berries and cream oatmeal = white chocolate chips and freeze-dried strawberries.

The rest of my fruit salad was wonderful at lunch.

DSC09668

Crushed pineapple,

DSC09671

fruit salad,

DSC09674

and a peach Fage,

DSC09676

were all stirred together into a tasty bowl.

Homemade oatmeal part deux.

DSC09679

Crushed pecans, dark chocolate chips, and toasted coconut.

DSC09683

Plus an apple.

snack

Afternoon espresso when I really wanted candy.

DSC09614

I compromised by putting an obscene amount of sugar into my coffee.

Honestly, I had terrible bedtime habits all week and my afternoons took a lot of coffees.  Made even more exciting by the Cookies and Cream Magic Straws from my Easter basket.

DSC09678

A Banana Dark Chocolate Almond THINaddictive.

DSC09622

I was expecting to like this flavor the most but ended up preferring the blueberry; this was good but the banana was a tiny bit fake tasting.

Pink Lady.  I have been loving apples recently.

DSC09660

We made milkshakes.

DSC09627

Café Latte Frozen Greek Yogurt, chocolate milk, malted milk powder, and ice.

And speaking of milk, I ate about a million cookies this week.

DSC09715

Don’t forget, you have until Monday to enter my giveaway.

dinner

My first recipe redo.

DSC09631

Shallotta Salmon Burgers.  They aren’t orange fyi, that’s just bad lighting.

DSC09640

Shredded Brussels sprouts cooked with coconut oil, crushed pecans, chopped celery, and swiss/gruyere cheese.

DSC09637

I added too much oil to my veggies and they were good but a little ridiculous.

My other recipe redo was my Healthy Spinach Pesto.

DSC09696

A total success, stirred into pasta with broccoli and tons and turkey bacon.

DSC09737

I’m off for family fun time! xoxo

Weekly Wrap-Up; All By Myself

Adam is on spring break right now so I gave him my free ticket voucher and he spent a week in St. Thomas with my parents.  They are all disgustingly in love with each other and had a fabulous time.  Meanwhile I was home alone but at least I had the dog.

webster

Furry cuddles totally got me through.  And I definitely took advantage of meals as a single lady.

breakfast

Fruit and yogurt bowl.

DSC09095

A strawberry Fage topped with fresh pineapple and cara cara orange.

A lackluster morning.

DSC09124

A bottle of iced coffee that I thought tasted artificial and threw out halfway through.

DSC09127

And a NuGo bar that was nowhere near as tasty as their salted pretzel variety.

DSC09128

Smoothie.

DSC09157

Coffee greek yogurt with frozen blackberries, toasted coconut, and chocolate milk.  <– Fantabulous

Smoothie 2 was frozen mango, blackberries, and spinach with coconut water.

DSC09191

Have you tried the ice cream coffees from Dunkin?  This was butter pecan.

DSC09180

I tried the cookie dough last weekend too and it was legit amazing.

lunch

Salad day.

DSC09111

Arugula with carrots, pea shoots, honey roasted almonds, buckwheat groats, blue cheese, dried blueberries, and vinaigrette.

DSC09101

Plus a cara cara orange and tamarind balls from home.

DSC09108

My coworkers are mostly all from the Caribbean as well and they were thrilled that I shared my tamarind shipment.

Oatmeal and apples.

DSC09148

Cherry Pistachio from Quaker.

DSC09149

And Cherry Vanilla from Big Slice.

DSC09153

This was the first flavor of these kettle cooked apples that I didn’t like.

Sandwich spread.

DSC09165

An everything bagel thin with strawberry jam, sharp cheddar, smoked turkey, and banana peppers.

DSC09167

Plus spicy peanut cucumber salad.

DSC09172

And raspberry candies and the last orange.

DSC09168

snack

Paper bag popcorn.

DSC09121

Prune chocolates my Russian coworker shared.

DSC09194

I ate this entire bag of Inner Peas in one sitting.

DSC09201

It was pathetic but also delicious.

I topped with cool tub of fig yogurt with white chocolate chips and toasted coconut.

DSC09196DSC09197

Cookie mugs rocked my face of this week.

DSC09087

I use this recipe, but swap the ratio of white to brown sugar.

DSC09188

Do ittttttt.

dinner

Salad night.

DSC09113

I had a TJ’s pretzel bread in the car as an appetizer.

DSC09097

Then topped a giant bowl of arugula and pea shoots with medium-boiled eggs, blue cheese, turkey bacon, shredded carrot, yogurt blue cheese dressing, and truffle salt.

DSC09117

And now medium-boiled eggs are my new favorite thing.

A combination of nibbles.  Pretzels straight from the bag.

DSC09131

A granny smith dipped in peanut butter and lavender caramel.

DSC09137

And baby carrots with red pepper hummus.

DSC09138

Green eggs and ham.

DSC09174

Eggs scrambled with okra, arugula, and swiss cheese.

DSC09177

Soup’s up.

DSC09185

This poblano and corn chowder was delicious.

DSC09183

And now we’re off to do fun spring break stuff!

Weeklong Wrap-Up; The Top Five

It took a week longer than I’d hoped, but I’m back to feeling 100%!  The alternative title for this post was “Cough Drop Chronicles.”

In the interim between this post and the last, I ate a ton of food but didn’t have it in me to capture most of it.  Adam and I made amazing, ridiculous nachos – maple bacon kettle chips baked with a blend of eight cheeses – but I shoveled them into my mouth before there was time to let them cool, let alone be photographed.  On Saturday I went to a wedding shower that served lunch – awesome lobster ravioli with big shrimp on top – but the only person I knew beforehand was the bride-to-be so I was too embarrassed to get out my camera.

Instead of a full post, here are my “top five” from the past week.

1. Liquid breakfast.  I was feeling my sickest on Monday and these three beverages were all consumed over the course of the same morning.

Green smoothie.  Frozen spinach, mango, and coconut water.

DSC09004

Lavender GT Kombucha.  I shared this with Adam and he actually liked it even more than I did.

DSC09008

“Mocha.”  Hospital coffee with a chocolate soy milk.

DSC09009

2. Sweet stuff.  These three desserts were the very best of the week but only the tip of the iceberg in terms of consumption.  I made it through by having a cough drop or hard candy in my mouth pretty much all waking 12 hours a day.

Nunu caramel dark chocolate bar.  <– made in Brooklyn

DSC09071

Whole Foods peanut butter sandwich cookie.  This was basically a giant, soft peanut butter cup.

DSC09081

Haagen-Dazs Caramelized Banana Chip Gelato.

DSC09057

3. Another beverage/sweet.

Arizona Fudge Float Sparkling Soda.  This was practically a can of egg cream!

DSC09076

4. Salmon and salad.

DSC09047

Coho salmon that I (over)baked with smoked brown sugar, soy sauce, and green onions.

DSC09052

DSC09043

Plus a cucumber salad of thinly sliced cucs, sesame seeds, rice vinegar, soy sauce, salt, and sugar.

DSC09053

5. Dinner at Pizza Loves Emily.

DSC09019

This Brooklyn spot was seriously adorable inside.

DSC09022

We got a lavender lemonade.

DSC09025

Crispy Sprouts.

DSC09028

apples, chilis, black sesame, fish sauce

DSC09027

And the Emily white pizza.

DSC09030

mozzarella, pistachios, truffle sottocenere, honey

DSC09032

Weekly Wrap-Up; Under / The Weather / Is Still Too Cold

If you couldn’t guess from the title, my complaints this week are: a) it’s too cold outside and b) I’ve caught a cold.  A.1 would be holy plastic, Batman, I’ve eaten a lot of packaged foods this week!

I’ve been eating {tons of junk} but not photographing so this will be a quick recap.  Thankfully speed helps keep my complaining in check!

breakfast

And I started my Monday off so well.

DSC08441

Smoothie  = Coco Café Vanilla Coconut Water Latte, frozen banana, frozen blueberries, and a scoop of peanut butter.

Tuesday went downhill.

DSC08463

Bagel with {tons of} cream cheese from a truck on my way to work.

And this morning I admitted defeat and got a giant latte with an extra shot of espresso.  Sidenote – I want to try the vanilla macchiato at Starbucks ASAP.

lunch

Monday.

DSC08446

GoPicnic Box.

DSC08448

And a Cara Cara.

DSC08452

Readers who live within a feasible distance of Trader Joe’s – go get thee a bag of Cara Cara Oranges this very minute!  They are sweet, seedless, and rocking my face off.

Tuesday.

DSC08457

An herb and garlic tuna packet scooped with TJ’s popped chips.

DSC08462

With more Cara Cara love.

Wednesday I felt so bad I actually called into work.  I slept for most of the day and then hit the bed hard again by 10 pm that night.  Boo.

Thursday.

DSC08474

A ranch tuna packet stirred into a mac and cheese cup.

DSC08478

DSC08475Tuna was good, the macaroni was disgusting.  The Cara Cara was fantastic, obviously.

junk

Please note – this post only shows a small sampling of the truly massive amount of junk I’ve been eating lately.  Speaking of which… I have these {ridiculously delicious, like seriously out of control good} pretzel bites on the train at least twice a week.

DSC08470

That habit needs to die, immediately.

I’ve also developed a pretty hardcore Good & Plenty obsession this week.

DSC08468

As far as candy goes, this is hardly the worst because you get a very satisfying serving for 180 calories and no fat.  But as far as being a healthy adult goes, I need to stop eating so much freaking candy.

Chocolate covered pretzels are also candy.

DSC08454

I actually ate these for dinner one night, but that was too depressing so I put them under this category instead.  I am clearly struggling with being a grown-up during the weeks when Adam’s working nights and I’m left to my own devices.

dinner

I ate cereal (and/or candy) for dinner most nights this week but did get in two nights of people food.  Like leftover pizza.

DSC08456

Topped with chicken, caramelized onions, and bbq sauce.

And last night Adam had business in the city so he swung by Brooklyn to pick me up from work for Date Night!  Swoon!!  We got in a freezing but enjoyable 2 mile walk, stopping along the way to split a green juice.

DSC08482

Kale/collards/romaine/cucumber/celery/parsley/green apple/lime.

Then we had a wonderful dinner at Calexico.

DSC08491

DSC08484We wandered into it by chance after our first choice for dinner didn’t work out and I am so glad that we found it.  We can’t wait to go back for margaritas and nachos.

For dinner last night, I did the black bean taco – guacamole, pico de gallo, cotija cheese, and “crack sauce.”

DSC08492

Plus the veggie special – fried brussels sprouts in chili and peanut salsa.

DSC08495

The food was fresh, inventive, and perfectly seasoned.  I know my pictures were dark and blurry, but I was afraid if I didn’t blog this meal I would forget about it and I definitely want to remember this place.  Calexico will be a repeat spot!

What bad habit do you need to start being more of a grown-up about?

Weekend Wrap-Up; Winter’s Gone And I’m Not Sad

Winter is not gone for good, obviously, but it took a much-appreciated hiatus this weekend.  It was so warm yesterday that we could walk the dog without coats!

DSC08256

Oh spring, you cannot come soon enough.

Stream of consciousness style, here is some of what I ate this weekend…

Thursday’s lunch.

DSC08188

The new Key Lime 2% Fage is so ridiculously good.  I stopped on my way home that same day to buy more!

DSC08190

Plus a Lady Alice apple.

DSC08194

And a Strawberry Lemonade Cascade Ice.

DSC08192

I bought the drink with my own money after enjoying my samples, but something in this reeeeeally made my stomach hurt so I probably won’t be buying it again.

Friday’s lunch was a delicious sandwich of 1 slice of pumpernickel topped with Miracle Whip, fancy blue cheese, banana peppers, and Applegate Farms Roasted Turkey.

DSC08225

Plus an emmy’s dark cacao macaroon – my new favorite flavor.

DSC08229

And a pear.

DSC08231

The Somersaults you see in the background were swapped out for this Double Shot.

DSC08235

My coffee obsession accepts all forms.

We blended up a final round of our favorite smoothie.

DSC08196

That was the last of our chocolate peppermint soy milk until next holiday season.

I ate a bowl of sugar cereal(s).

DSC08243

DSC08245

Kid’s aren’t all wrong, this was fricking delicious.

I dipped sliced green apple in a blend of melted peanut butter and dark chocolate sauce.

DSC08279

I love green apples when paired with something sweet or cheesy but the thought of eating one all on its lonesome makes my lips purse up.

I tried another evolution juice.

DSC08239

The Essential Greens with Lime was much, much better than the variety I threw out the other day.  Still can’t hold a candle to fresh juice though.

I ate a ton of ice cream.

DSC08233

The Ben and Jerry’s Cores are out of control.  We’ve tried blondie salted caramel and chocolate hazelnut and both were great.  Adam actually liked them more than I did, which says a lot because he claims not be into ice cream.

A friend and I met up at Bierkraft and shared this cider.

DSC08242

It didn’t taste like maple at all, sadly.  But it packed some kick, apparently, because we went out for burgers afterward and it didn’t occur to me to snap a picture until there was only one bite left on my plate.

I got an easy dinner from Trader Joe’s after I went grocery shopping at 8 pm on Saturday.

DSC08249

Along with my salad – which was delicious – I had cheesy bread.  Aka a baguette baked with butter and sharp cheddar.

DSC08253

That was more delicious than the salad.  Obviously.

We made shrimp Pad Thai.  And it was good!!!

DSC08277

First, we had to turn this –

DSC07986

into this –

DSC08261

Making tamarind paste “from scratch” felt super badass, just fyi.  And it was very essential to getting a good sauce.

DSC08271

Basically just rice noodles, carrots, bean sprouts, shrimp, eggs, and this sauce, cooked in canola oil and topped with lime, scallion, and crushed peanut.

DSC08266

It tasted legit!  I can’t even tell you how proud I was.

Last night our dinner plans fell through and we ended up with turkey burger take-out from Bare Burger.

DSC08292

Not the original plan but certainly nothing to complain about.  Mine had turkey bacon, peppers, fried onions, and smoked cheese.

Have you ever made Pad Thai at home?  How’d it turn out?

Weekly Wrap-Up; Lonely Island

Let’s be honest – being married to a surgical resident sucks.  Don’t get me wrong, I am proud of Adam that he’s such a smartypants and I love that he gets the opportunity to do something meaningful that excites him, but if I had my druthers I think we would both be beach bums working together at a part-time job somewhere.

We don’t have any time now.  After 11 years together (and 6 years of marriage) we somehow still really like each other so living as two ships passing in the night, as I said, sucks.

It’s not great for blog content either.  Adam was on night shifts all this week and I was home alone which meant I ate cereal and/or popcorn most days.  Not a ton of healthy living to share!  And it didn’t help that when I pulled up my photos  to write this post half of them were horrendous and were promptly deleted.  Here is what I do have to share…

Work lunch 1.

DSC07843

Fresh mango,

DSC07846

and a Passion Fruit Noosa.

DSC07848

This was the first time I had ever tried passion fruit not in juice form.  I liked the crunchy seeds!

Work lunch 2.

DSC07892

Peach Noosa,

DSC07894

topped with fresh blueberries,

DSC07898

and Linwood Ground Flax Seed with Cocoa, Strawberries,  and Blueberries.

DSC07896

The flax was part of a box of samples I recently received to review.

DSC07873

It was quite good; you couldn’t taste the berries but it had a nice hint of chocolate.  I keep meaning to bring flax back into my life so the samples came at a great time.

Pink smoothie.

DSC07837

Chocolate peppermint soy milk with frozen strawberries.  Adam is obsessed with this combination.  The only plus to nights is that he is home with me in the morning for breakfast.

Zing Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bar.

DSC07901

This didn’t have the best texture but it did a great job of keeping me full.

Gummi Koalas.

DSC07903

These are Adam’s favorites but they couldn’t hold a candle to my new obsession with Haribo Juicy Bears.

Blissinger’s Dulce de Leche with Sea Salt bar.

DSC07869

Yuck!  Way too salty.  I’m hoping that the husband ends up liking it because it was quite expensive and I could only eat one square.

Santa Fe Salsa Somersaults.

DSC07839

This one I have no complaints about 🙂

Oven baked fries.

DSC07888

With evoo, truffle salt, and dried rosemary from my grandma’s garden.

Iowa Girl Eats’ Chicken Chili topped with extra-sharp cheddar, low-fat sour cream, and pickled jalopeños.

DSC07864

I skipped the brown sugar, doubled the onion, and added some liquid smoke.  Adam loooooved this, and he says he hates chili.

Leftover chili stuffed in a baked potato.

DSC07855

With more cheese, sour cream, and jalopeños, and roasted broccoli on the side(s).  This was cheesy amazing.  We need to make baked potatoes more often.

Do you feel like you get enough time with your significant other or does work get in the way?
