Pie(ish)

It’s Wednesday!  I woke up feeling pretty awful this morning (exhausted, sore throat, headache) but I had preplanned breakfast last night and was too excited not to push through (yes, I realize I wake up at 8:45 and most bloggers are up hours before the sun!).

Yum.  Dannon Nonfat Plain yogurt, sprinkle cinnamon, crumbled Apple Pie Lara Bar, chopped Zestar apple, Justin’s Nut Butters Cinnamon Peanut Butter packet.  The pb made this bowl, it actually did taste like pie!

DSC00102

I’m actually (amazingly) feeling a little hungry still, I get ravenous when I’m sick(ish).  Today I’ve got lots of to-dos, some studying, and I’m hoping to make it to the gym.  I think I’m going to do my baking and prepare dinner this morning, I have a night class so I’ll set everything up so Adam can just put it into the oven.  I’ll be back with lunch.

What is your favorite way to eat nut butter?  Other than the awesomeness that is these Justin’s squeeze packets (straight into my mouth), I think I like it best in yogurt.

I Think I Found My Motivation

Woot! Woot!  My to-do’s finally got off-schedule for good reasons.  I’ve been so unmotivated the past week, everything feels like I’m moving in slow-motion and I got behind on my work, training schedule, life!  Now I am not only caught up, but slightly ahead 🙂  I had to push back my kitchen time but it’s a small price to pay.

After my 5hrs at the coffee shop I did 2.5more here.  I am halfway done with the online work due Monday.  While I worked I fueled up for the gym.

Stoneyfield YoKids Lowfat Strawberry/Vanilla yogurt, sliced black plum, Justin’s Nut Butters Honey Almond Butter packet.  So satisfying.

DSC00097

Around 8 Adam and I headed to the gym for some treadmill time.  My training schedule had 2miles for today and I decided to work on speed.

  • I did Mile 1 in 8minutes 11seconds
  • Mile 2 in 8minutes 35seconds
  • with warm up/between miles break/cool down I did 27minutes
  • and burned 287calories

Since cooked dinner got cooked back (but mostly because we had a coupon which is exciting to me) Adam convinced me to get Pizza Hut for dinner.  We did green peppers, green olives, and mushrooms.

DSC00098

I had this x3 (that’s a small plate).

To drink/for dessert I made this hottness –

DSC00099

I’ve been mulling this idea over for a week and I think it was a success: 2 So Delicious Dairy Free Mini Ice Cream Sandwiches + 5cubes ice + big splash skim milk + blending = cookies and cream inspired milkshake for ~200calories.

I’ve still got to shower (we ate slowly and watched a Bones rerun online) so I’m out for the evening, peace!

Do you ever reformat foods?  I was pretty proud of my sandwich to shake idea.

I Would Marry Mike

‘Afternoon!  I can’t believe it’s Tuesday today, it simulataneously feels like it should be Monday and Friday to me!  Sleeping last night was, once again, ridiculous.  I was having the strangest dreams, and they were dominated by this girl I haven’t seen since high school, weird!  Tossing and turning moved my wake-up from 7 –> 9:30, but I still managed to make it to The Spot for a study session by 10:30.

I started with a medium iced Americano to which I added “skinny moo.”

DSC00091

And for breakfast brunch I ordered a Mike’s sandwich.  That is bagel with pan fried egg, provolone cheese, bacon or ham, and cream cheese.

DSC00092

I modified mine to have turkey on an everything bagel.  End result?  Gah, too good for real words!  Look at that sexy close-up –

DSC00093

I studied Chemistry from 10:30 to 3pm.  About halfway in there I ordered a cinnamon plum iced tea.

DSC00094

This flavor is so awesome, I don’t know the company but if you see it in your area order it!  And it must have some sort of magical motivational powers because I rocked it out on the studying.

The rest of today is looking pretty busy still.  On the agenda –

  • working on homework problems online
  • a trip to the gym (2mile run is on the schedule)
  • making dinner
  • baking fun

I would also like to put away the clean laundry from this weekend but the likelihood of that is so low it didn’t even make it on the agenda!  See you this evening.

What is your feeling on bagel sandwiches?  I love love love them.  My favorite food item on Earth is a bagel/turkey bacon/cheese/coulis/cream cheese/more yuminess sandwich from a place back home.  My bridal party and I had them the morning of my wedding!

Bulimic Taco

My class went well and I got all of my campus to-do’s completed.  My San Fransisco trip is causing me to miss a test so I have to complete some forms to be able to get a make-up date.  When I was looking at my day planner I realized that that trip is actually the weekend right after I am flying to Ohio for my grandma’s birthday; it’s going to be a busy fall!

Adam called me on the way home to say he was out of printer ink so I pushed baking back until tomorrow and picked him up to go to Target.  I had been pretty excited about my sweet endeavor so he really didn’t have to twist my arm to get me to agree to Anderson’s.

DSC00086

I got a chocolate and cookie dough Arctic Swirl.  I’ve been obsessed with cookie dough lately, I don’t know what it is!  This hit the spot, I loved how custardy the soft-serve was.  Plus I liked that the sizing was slightly more reasonable than some other places.

DSC00087

I ate about 3/4 of this.

When I got home I need a speedy meal so I thought of salad.  The resulting bowl is what would happen if a taco threw up 🙂

DSC00089

  • lettuce base
  • 1/2C low sodium black beans, rinsed
  • 3T sharp cheddar
  • 2 shakes Chipotle Tabasco
  • 3T medium, chunky salsa
  • 1serving Garden of Eating Blue Chips

DSC00090

It was shockingly good, I’m pretty sure I’ll be making this again soon.

As soon as I shower it will be time for bed.  I’m hoping to really dig into studying tomorrow, so I’m going to head to a coffee shop in the morning.  I’ll post at lunch time.  Sweet dreams.

Mexican food is often the same thing in a different package, what’s your favorite?  I don’t really like tacos, but I loved this taco salad!  My favorite is usually burritos or nachos 🙂

The Buzz

Good afternoon all!  I hope everyone is having a painless Monday.  As you know, I didn’t go to bed until after 2 last night, but once in bed I didn’t fall asleep until after 3!  I don’t know how on earth I managed to wake up at 9am but I think my excitement over breakfast was a factor.

DSC00077

I pan-heated two chicken apple maple sausages.

DSC00078

And put my leftover oven-roasted root veggies into eggs.  I heated 1T SmartBalance Light in a pan, heated the turnips and parsnips, cracked in two eggs, scrambled, and added a small handful of sharp cheddar at the end.

DSC00079

Very tasty!  I will officially say that turnips and parsnips (and whole okra) are a success, they will be entering the regular line up!

After breakfast I hurried to the hospital for my 4hour volunteering shift.  At 20’clock I clocked out and apparently became a cereal magnet.  I used my lunch voucher to buy some granola and skim milk to eat later this week,

DSC00080

and when I got home I found a Kashi coupon and sample in the mail.

DSC00081

You can click here to get your own sample, I said “surprise me!”

In spite of its abundance, I knew that cereal was not going to cut it for lunch.  I spent most of my volunteering time delivering blood and medicine, which means I took the stairs a ton! (when I am taking patients places I obviously only take the elevator)  I decided to give Flat Outs a try with another sandwich.

DSC00084

I know it looks unassuming, but he’s just being modest.

DSC00085

  • 1 Flat Out
  • homemade honey mustard (1T dijon mustard, 1t honey)
  • 6 thin slices turkey
  • ~1/2C shredded carrot

This was very satisfying.  I still found the wrap a bit chalky but overall the taste combo was fantabulous.  I totally only ended my lunch with almond butter straight into my mouth for the protein.

DSC00082

It was 100% the 6g of protein in the packet, not that it was maple flavored almond butter, and certainly not that I like squeezing it straight into my mouth 🙂

DSC00083

I am feeling very lucky to have received Justin’s samples, 2 thumbs up!

In just a bit I am going to head out to campus.  Class isn’t until 6:30 but I need to print off the class notes and pick up some forms.  Dinner will be something thrown together because Adam claimed the tofu leftovers, but I am planning on doing some baking tonight!

Foodbuzz Excitement

I couldn’t wait to tell you guys about the excitement I mentioned yesterday – it’s official, my friend Camile and I will be attending the Foodbuzz Blogger Festival in November!!!  We booked our tickets and hotel room yesterday and we are both so excited!  Do you know anyone else who is attending?

Also, I forgot to mention before, but one of my photos was featured on the main page of Foodbuzz the other day.  It’s clearly not a big deal, but the husband was so proud of me he took a screenshot.

Unhappy Owl

It is 2o’clock in the morning, holy frick holy frick holy frick!  Let me just add that I am not even caught up with all my work yet.  I am at least, completely finished with the assignment that is due tomorrow (I got 102.2%, woot).  Clearly, this will be a speedy post; I took a few walks, did something very exciting I will mention tomorrow, etc. but I will focus just on eats.

Snack = Justin’s Nut Butter Honey PB packet, squeezed straight into my mouth.

DSC00062

DSC00064

Justin’s was so sweet to send me a box of samples, and I will be doing a full review tomorrow.

Lunch = tried some new veggies, i.e. turnips, parsnips, okra.

DSC00066

Okra is actually not new to me perse, but I kept it whole this time.  Oven roasted.

DSC00067

I ate all the okra and put 1/3 of the rest into the fridge for tomorrow.  My tasty dipping sauce was – buffalo wing sauce, ketchup, maple syrup, chipotle tabasco.

DSC00069

DSC00068

Dinner takes forever = 5 salt water taffies.

DSC00070

Actual dinner =

DSC00071

Orange Tofu from Eat, Drink, and Be Veganby Dreena Burton.  It was good, but I had to sub some ingredients and I imagine it could be better.

DSC00072

Oven roasted white asparagus.

DSC00074

Broccoli, keeping with the citrus theme I sauted chopped broccoli and shalots in some clementine olive oil.

DSC00075

Yums.

Studying hurts my brain snack = packet of Rolos.

DSC00076

Nighty night!  I probably will skip the breakfast post tomorrow, but will be back after volunteering at 2.

What’s the latest work usually keeps you up?  When I was a teacher I would often sleep 2-3hours a night and still be behind!  Nyc’s standards from English teachers were out of control.

Identity Crisis

This post is having an identity crisis!  I ate                           at 10:30 last night and                             at 10:30 this morning.  What do you call those meals?  Are they still dinner and breakfast?  And a post that encapsulates both of them, mind-boggling.  unfortunately I don’t have time for semantics.

For 4th meal (I realize that 1. I did not eat 4 times yesterday and 2. I’m copping a Taco Bell term) I had some of Adam’s fancy nuggets.

DSC00053

They were delish, especially when paired with homemade Russian dressing.

DSC00054

I might have also eaten 1/2 of Adam’s medium fry he bought at Wendy’s when I got a fountain diet coke, whoops.

For morning meal not otherwise specified I had a sandwich wrap burrito more semantics.

DSC00055

DSC00060

I’ve been reading about these Flat Outs on other blogs and when I got a chance to see the nutritional stats I had to try them.

DSC00056

I was fairly underwhelmed.  They had a nice texture but the taste was pretty chalky, I’ll give them a try again tomorrow though.  The combo was still pretty tasty though, I used two Chicken Apple Maple Sausages and the savory sweet taste went very well with 2T of sharp cheddar.

The tastes also went nicely with a sliced black plum.

DSC00059

I ate while I studied, and frankly I should still be studying!

DSC00058

I’ve got to skedaddle because I have beyond tons of schoolwork to do today (apparently doing nothing all week was a bad idea?).  Hopefully I can fit some fun in too.  Enjoy the end of your weekend!

Have you tried Flat Outs?  What did you think?

Ruffled

Today ended up being sort of a bust, sadly.  I was so excited for our grocery trip, I even got my ruffles on –

DSC00047

but I got overwhelmed and mega reward shopping trip ended up being about $30, boo.  Although I did get a few fun things….

To dos got pretty squashed too, apparently laundry is a very popular Saturday activity in this building, I’ll have to try again tomorrow.  I felt great this morning but by the time we got home from Wegmans my tummy hurt like crazy.  Last night the top of my stomach was bloated in a strange way so I’m really not sure what the deal is.

In spite of the pain I was pretty hungry so I made myself a plate of food –

DSC00050

Adam made himself turkey and roasted red pepper meatloaf the other day and I enjoyed his leftovers.

DSC00051

A a bit later I was still hungry so I took a study break and walked to get some Combos.

DSC00052

unfortunately as the afternoon went on I felt much worse instead of better  😦  At 7 I actually opted out of the foodie fun and sent Adam alone to the Sushi Party our friend was hosting.  I hung out on the couch alone.

Adam is home now and I’m feeling a little better so I am going to accompany him on a quick walk.  I might eat something small, but either way I’ll see you in the morning.

What is your favorite clothing snazz?  I’m big on polka dots and sequins but ruffles are my favorite.
