Insta-Wrap-Up; I

I’m pretty sure that most of my readers do not follow me on Instagram (hello! I’m pretty sure my mom and gradma comprise a solid 50% of my readership!) so I thought it might be fun to occasionally post a wrap-up of some of the things I share there and not here.  I hope you like this new blog feature!

{this post was inspired by every other blogger on the internet ever}

This rotation has been particularly crazy for Adam and he’s been pretty wiped out by the end of most days.  Enter my new favorite photo series: Husband Passed Out with Guard Dog.

Another shot of my two favorite men, buckled in together in the car.  The way the dog’s paw is resting on Adam’s leg kills me.

Candy I am pining after, followed by candy I actually ate.  The Haribo smurfs were spotted at a Bodega in Park Slope and the wine gums were sent from Amsterdam.  Pro tip – don’t go to the Haribo site unless you want to waste an hour drooling.

I’ve discovered that I can make amazing homemade caramel corn.  I’ve also discovered that my pants don’t fit.

I flew to Ohio to visit my grandma and I saw the neatest thing in the airport.  This water bottle filling station hooks up to the drinking fountain but you place your bottle in front of the sensor and it fills from the top without having to tilt it sideways.

My time in Ohio has been puppy-filled; first I got love from my grandma’s dog and then I spotted this great dachshund sculpture.

I made this batique that hangs at my grandma’s in grade school.  How cool was that private school art class?

Reader Dump – Husband Related

If you hated these posts – don’t worry, this is the last one!  These things all fit in the “Things I Think Are Hilarious” category, but they’re all tied together by the fact that they relate back to the husband.  Here’s what you need to know about Adam –

  1. He is a doctor.
  2. He’s rocked a sexy beard ever since freshman year of college but now that he is a practicing doctor he has had to adopt the clean-shaven look.

Reader Dump; Peek Into My Brain

As I recently mentioned, I had to transfer over to Feedly for all of my blog following needs.  When I went to do the switch, I discovered a million and one things in my Google Reader’s “save for later” folder.  I figured it could be fun to share some of those saved things with you guys.  Think of it as another way to see what makes me tick.  So as not to overwhelm the post with pictures, I’m making this a three-part series.  (1) Things I Think Are Hilarious, (2) Things I Think Are Adorable, and (3) Things That Relate to the Husband.

Here we go!

Loves of Late, Internet Edition

Here’s what I’m loving lately on the interwebs!  All things are new to me, because I totally needed more ways to spend time on the internet.

1. My new cell phone.

cell phone

You might think that technically this doesn’t fit into the internet edition, but I use my phone 20% for phone things and 80% for internet things.  I really loved my old phone (an HTC Evo) so making the switch was painful but I finally had to because my battery couldn’t make it through the day.  My new, purple phone has great battery life and the huge screen is awesome for scrolling through Buzzfeed.  Plus I love how well it works with the app for my next love…

2. Feedly.

feedly

I was one of those people who thought that the world would end when Google Reader did but amazingly Feedly has managed to fill the void.  There is a “save for later” feature and transferring my follow list from Google Reader was easy as pie.  I love how easy it is to scroll through the app on my cell phone.

3. All seasons of Sabrina the Teenage Witch are available on Hulu Plus.

sabrina the teenage witch

Oh jeez guys; I learned that STW was available for instant streaming and the rest of my summer free-time just evaporated.  If you haven’t been (re)watching you totally should start; the show very too funny and smart.  Melissa Joan Hart is even better as a witch then she was as Clarissa.  The first few seasons are fabulously 1990’s.

4. GrubHub.

grub hub

I mentioned that we had some terrible take-out recently, but I loved the awesome way that we ordered the awful food.  GrubHub puts all of the delivery and/or pick-up options available to your address into a nice list for you and streamlines the ordering and payment process.  And every three orders they give you a chance to win free things in their Yummy Rummy game.

Which reader did you switch to on July 1st?

My 27th Year Is Coming To A Close

It’s my 28th birthday on Wednesday so it’s time to look back at the list of 27 things I wanted to do in 27th year.

In the end, I did 18 out of 27, which doesn’t seem too bad.  Though, it’s worth noting that the 9 things I didn’t accomplish were largely my physical goals (whoops!).

Here’s a recap…

  1. make bubble tea at home  (taro milk tea with rainbow boba)
  2. blog every day for a 30 day stretch
  3. take the dog to a beach  (he didn’t dig!)
  4. visit the Buffalo Museum of Science  (we didn’t love it)
  5. eat an egg cream (homemade coconut egg cream)
  6. cook my own gnocchi  (with sautéed spinach and lemon-brown butter sauce)
  7. rock climb  (rocked it, hehe)
  8. bake a cake from scratch  (hummingbird cake)
  9. knit a scarf  (shown here)
  10. build a snowman  (fred lasted 1 night before a drunken neighbor kicked him)
  11. attend a street festival  (East Aurora street festival)  (Elmwood Art Festival)
  12. toast a real s’more over an open flame (at Taste in East Aurora)
  13. run 1 mile in less than 8 minutes
  14. run 5k in less than 30 minutes
  15. run 10k without walking
  16. make ice cream in a bag with rock salt
  17. reread Little Women
  18. go canoeing  (2 hour ride)
  19. make fudge  (cookie butter)
  20. carve a pumpkin  (I did stars)
  21. dye Easter eggs  (they were raw!)
  22. visit a food truck  (Llyod’s Taco Truck) (Franks)
  23. make popsicles
  24. attend a 1st Friday event  (in September)
  25. make gummi bear vodka (candy cane vodka)
  26. do something crazy with my hair  (purple streaks)
  27. host a party

I’m not sure yet if I’ll do a 28 list or not, but I know that it’s going to be another good year!

Welcome Home

I try to do an apartment tour on the blog whenever we move.  My mom is always dying for pictures and it forces me to take photos of our new place – I never took pictures of our first apartment together in Miami and it kills me now that we can’t look back at it.

We aren’t quite moved in – some lamps need assembling, a few rooms will be getting new windows, we need a few more pieces of furniture in the living room, etc – but I promised my family pictures by Monday so I figured I’d post the tour now even though a few things look off.

We are living in an apartment complex that is owned by Adam’s hospital so we have no complaints about the price.  It isn’t quite as nice as our last place (no more gorgeous brick accent walls, sob!) but our apartment is large and it has great storage space <- – – two things you usually can only dream of in the city.

Without further adieu, here are some pictures of our new apartment (and a few of my favorite things from each room!)…

I think the story behind our new desk is pretty neat, but Adam’s favorite thing is our new queen bed; apparently the dog and I took up too much room in the double bed!

What is your favorite room in your current mansion/apartment/shack/house?
