Delayed Gratification

It was another productive day, I’m on a roll!  I stayed up way too late last night so the roll didn’t get started until 10 this morning.  I posted my uncooperative blog post first thing, and then did 10minutes of stretching and strength training – including 70reps of abs, 50reps of arms, and 30reps of legs.

Then I got straight to work on my Chemistry homework.  And worked.  And worked.  And worked.  And suddenly, my whole day was gone!  I hate that it takes so long, but I am thrilled to be done, I think this is the first thing I’ve done in advance all semester.

I was so focused on enthalpy changes that I forgot to eat, but once I arrived at the grocery store at 4 I promptly remembered!  I managed to stay focused enough to get our food for next week – and save $20 in sales/coupons, yay! – but I was definitely rushing.  Good thing the meal (lunch/dinner) I prepared when I got home was worth waiting for!

I seriously loved every single component of this.  I was in foodie heaven.  Honey mustard tuna salad.

This recipe (click here) just came to me, and I’m so glad it did.  So tasty.

Apple slices and 1serving+ Food Should Taste Good Jalopeno Chips for dipping.

The chips were the perfect spice level to go with my salad.

And finally a glass of POM Nectarine juice.

This was better than kiwi, it will be coming to store soon, look for it!

In just a bit we are heading out for a date, to see “Couples’ Retreat.”  We’ve decided to cut back on the movies this year (we were going 1-3times a week in Brooklyn!!) but this was definitely on my worth it list.  I am so excited about my movie snack –

My first Halloween candy!  I packed 1 serving each of Candy Corn and Ghost Dots.  DSC00322

I hope everyone else has a good evening!

Have you had any spook candy yet?  What is your favorite kind?  My favorite is mini York patties.

Pretend You Saw This Last Night

*****NOTE***** This was written last night and would have been posted if WordPress didn’t suck so bad.

What a difference a day makes; I am in such a better frame of mind! Nothing stereotypically exciting happened today, but my nerdy self was in heaven 🙂

My doctor’s appointment went great; she thinks my next appointment might be my last! I can’t even image having an uninterrupted training schedule, so exciting. I went straight from the doctor’s to school, meaning I was at school from 2-8. I snacked on my Sahale Ksar Blend while I studied notecards.

DSC00308

The bag had two servings, but was a perfect larger snack.

DSC00310

A couple of hours later I ate my Cashew Protein Plus Boomi Bar while doing practice problems. It was delish.

DSC00311

My test was 6:30 – 7:50. I actually think I did pretty well. There is one problem I know I messed up, but overall I knew what I was doing. I will not, however, be cramming for test #2, it would have been much less stressful to just study properly in advance.

Adam was with friends studying future doctor stuff so I met up with them. I had a great time watching them practice taking vitals, and I also managed to somehow do more chemistry; I read a whole chapter! Plus our friend Benji made fabulous roasted eggplant soup for dinner.

DSC00314

I had a small bowl with a slice of bread. We got home around 11:30 and the productivity continued; the planned out our meals for the next week! I am definitely proud of how much I accomplished today. Tomorrow will be busy as well, there are a lot of to-do’s on the agenda. I’ve got to go rest up, see you tomorrow!

Why are you proud of yourself today?

Running (Late)

I have a doctor’s appointment for my foot which means Iwill be barely walking, let alone running, for the next few days so I needed to make my workout count.  I fueled up with a healthy breakfast and Rockstar this morning, brought my i-pod with my 60minute playlist, and wore my new P.E. shirt for good luck.

DSC00301

I did the Galloway method (2run/1walk) on the treadmill.  In total I did 5.6miles / 59minutes / 686calories.  I wanted to do more but I was way behind schedule.  In fact, I was running so late I didn’t get to wash my hair in the shower, leading to this sexy look.

DSC00307

Today is going to be a loooooon day.  I have a doctor’s appointment for my foot at 12:30 and then I am driving to school and studying there until my test at 6:30.  That’s a lot of time on campus but I’m nervous about this test (I have Not been studying enough) and hopefully I will focus better there.

I’m not sure what dinner will bring but I’ll give you a lunch noon – 8pm meal preview:

Gotta dash!

Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

*I’m being cheerful here* Good morning!  I showered and got in bed before 9 last night (when I would have finished lab had I been allowed to stay)!  I slept terribly so I’m not as rested as you might think, but I got up at 8 on the dot and started my (better) day!

First things first, I packed my bag and thoroughly checked to make sure I have everything I need.  I’m going to be on campus for 8hours today so I need to be prepared!

Then I ate breakfast.

DSC00302

DSC00303

Yogurt + ~2t peanuts + ~1/2t Crofters.  I was very impressed with this store brand yogurt.  It was cheap, tasty, almost as thick as Greek yogurt, and full of healthy probiotics.

I watched the Bones episode from last night online while I ate and drank a purple Rockstar to fuel for the gym as well.

DSC00304

Now on the agenda is gym, shower, and off.

How long will you be at work today?

Que Sera Sera

My apologizes, no photos (or real post) this evening.  It was a hard day.  I’m not sure why I’m in such a motivation slump but I’m pissing myself off.  That aside, I forgot my goggles and was sent home from lab.  Which meant I just killed my 100%.  Boo.  Sorry to be a Debbie Downer.  Tomorrow will be better.

What was the last stupid thing you did?  I can’t beleive I forgot my goggles, I seriously check my bags like 8 times!

Extra Kredit

I know, I know, I just did my dinner post!  Consider this extra-credit for funsies.  The fabulous Katie gave me an award –

award

Thank you!  Now I am supposed to tell you 7 random facts about myself:

  1. Earlier todayI mentioned that my middle name is Helen, but now I’ll tell you that my full name (too much blog disclosure???) is Emily Helen Wax.  When I was a kid my parents used to say “Emily Helen Wax, Boop Boop!”  My best friend practically lived with me and of course she heard so for several years many friends called me that in public!
  2. Similarly, all of my friends have always called me Wax (some said E) and when people call me Emily I get very confused.
  3. I started running because my (now)husband was on the high school cross-country team and I wanted to flirt with him!
  4. I also did volleyball, basketball, and softball (I sucked at all of them, badly), and cheerleading.
  5. My rhythm is so bad that when I was a cheerleader I was told to pantomime clapping, I wasn’t allowed to actually make noise!
  6. When I was in high school my parents said I could pierce my belly button if I attended Saturday math tutoring…..the class was canceled after 2 weeks! 🙂
  7. For my birthdays I’ve – gone rock climbing, gone parasailing, gone sky diving, shot a gun, and flown a plane.

And award 3 other bloggers (this was hard, I realize not all of these are healthy living blogs, and I’m not sure if they’ve already been awarded):

  1. Cybele from Candy Blog
  2. Camile from Classroom Confessions
  3. Kelly from Beneath It All

Now I’m off to write a short acceptance speech that I can slyly pull out of my pocket in mock surprise…….

Random and Randomer

My title makes me think of “curious and curiouser” a line from Alice in Wonderland(one of my top 5 favorite books!).  I am so excited for that movie to come out, I can’t wait to see Tim Burton’s spin on it.  In general I’ve been super annoyed by all of the children’s books turned live-action movies (The Grinch, Cat in the Hat, etc; blech) but I have high hopes for this one.  I am also excited for “Couples’ Retreat,” which comes out this weekend.  I have a trip to the movies planned to celebrate my first Chem exam.

If breakfast/lunch were random, dinner was randomer.  For full disclosure’s sake, I would like to mention that I’ve eaten 3-5 fruit gel candies without photographing today.  Equally junky was the snack I bought for class; I usually don’t eat during class but I was super hungry when I got to campus –

DSC00289

I never buy Snyder’s pretzels because I have zero self-control with those delicious nuggets but this vending machine find had a slightly more reasonable 2servings per bag.

After class Caroline asked if I wanted to grab dinner and do some review.  After wasting time all day it was the perfect opportunity to make up!  Plus, we got Wegman’s salad bar which you know I love.

DSC00290

Steamed broccoli,

DSC00292

roasted brussels sprouts (nowhere near as good as the ones I make at home, *mental note to make them soon*),

DSC00291

and curried tofu.

DSC00293

All pretty yummy.  I love that the curried tofu had raisins in it!

We got a lot done and I got home around 10.  It ended up being a semi-sucessful day.  My foot has been really hurting and favoring my other side has caused my right hip to hurt but I am hoping to make it to the gym for a run tomorrow.  I have a doctor’s appointment this Friday which we put me out of commission for at least a few days so I don’t want to fall too far behind.  I’m going to do some blog reading and then I need to hit the sack to rest up for tomorrow, night!

Do you like raisins in things?  I love them, I put raisins in salad, cookies, where ever I can fit them.

Random

I have not gotten near enough done today (unless you count the huge stack of magazines I powered through as an accomplishment) so this post needs to be quick.  All of my food choices have been unbelievably random today.

“Breakfast” was the last serving of Food Should Taste Good Lime Chips.

DSC00284

For lunch I followed last night’s theme and did some more using up.  The last Flat Out wrapped around the last Boca Spicy Chik’n Patty, with lettuce, carrots, cheese, and buffalo sauce.

DSC00285

DSC00286

For fruit I made a smoothie – 1C passionfruit pulp, 1 fat free plain Oikos, big splash oj, drizzle honey.

DSC00288

And I snacked on a Healthy Hazel Boomi Bar sample.

DSC00287

I’ll be back after class this evening.

Tell me one random thing about yourself.  I’ll go first – My middle name is Helen.
