When In Rome

My fabulous day continued to be great!  We were kept busy with lots of (foodie) fun.  Our first stop was the Buffalo Wings Festival.

I don’t actually love wings (I get a little skeeved out so I leave a ton of meat on the bones), but I adore Buffalo sauce so I end up eating them fairly often.  The festival today was set up for tasting, using food tickets you got 3wings for $2 from several different tents.  Adam and I tasted from 2 locations.

First was Hurricane Grill & Wing (West Palm Beach, FL), I tried Gold Rush, which was basically hot sauce.

Yummy!  Adam had salt and vinegar wings there that he adored.

Then we split some Barefoot White Zinfindel.

And finally we hit up Arooga’s Grille House & Sports Bar (Harrisburg, PA), where I got 1 Buffalo Blue wing and 2 Instant Death.

Buffalo Blue was the best fricking thing ever, Adam got it too and we were in love.  I was a little worried about Instant Death, here’s my apprehensive face –

And the wings?  Were deathly!  It wasn’t just spicy, it had a great flavor, but man was it spicy!  I only ate one of the two and then sweat was pouring down my face.  I made a run for the blue cheese table to cool down.

Drinks were $3.50 so I toughed it out and waited until we got to Wegmans to get a diet coke.  We did our grocery shopping quickly because we had to hurry home to shower to make it to our next event in time.

A med. school friend was having a BBQ!  Several couples who I really enjoy were there and we had a great time.  We talked and played games and ate some good food.  I had a small plate – pasta salad, raw veggies, chips with bean dip, grilled chicken.

And I had two Black Cherry Cruzan Rum and Cokes.

Plus a small Oreo bite,

On the way home I ate two bites of Adam’s brownie (Mary-Kate sent him home with a baggie of them and she’s his new best friend) before I realized that I hate brownies and I was actually hungry.  I made Adam pull into Wendy’s so I could get a broccoli and cheese baked potato.

Which I ate about 4bites of before I promptly dropped it – sticky side down – on the rug.

Adam saved the day and cleaned it up, and even shared some of his fancy chicken nuggets with me.

I ate 5, along with some homemade honey mustard.

And now we are watching “My So-Called Life” and cuddling, peace!

What food is your town famous for?  I’m pretty thrilled to be in the birthplace of Buffalo wings.

Smooth Talker

There were some dryer issues and we ended up waiting at the apartment a little longer than planned.  Not an issue though, and we enjoyed the best smoothies ever.  The secret was this Naysoya Smoothie Starter.

How have I not bought this before?!  It gave the smoothies the perfect thickness, and had the best aftertaste.  The smoothies were more than ready for their close-up.

For 2 portions I used –

  • 1C Naysoya Smoothie Starter, Vanilla
  • 2frozen bananas
  • 3/4C frozen strawberries
  • splash So Delicious Unsweetened Coconut Milk

I enjoyed mine in one of our lovely new Guinness cups.

Now, fingers crossed, we should be off in the next 10minutes.  Can’t wait to see what the wings festival entails!

What do you use to thicken your smoothies?  Usually I’m all about just liquid/frozen fruit, but this was pretty fabulous.  I never ever use protein powders.

Time and a Half Tunes

Hiya!  I hope everyone else is feeling good, I’m actually having a great day 🙂  We changed the sheets and towels, have laundry going, and we’re about to walk to the mail.  Plus we have lots of fun for this afternoon, including a grocery trip, a wings festival, and a bbq this evening.

We woke up this morning at 8 and got ready to gym it.  My training schedule had me doing 20minutes of cross-training today, but my i-pod playlist was so good I couldn’t stop!  In the end I was on the elliptical for 39minutes (450calories, at level 7).  As long as I run 2miles tomorrow, my goals for this week will be fulfilled.  I included my banging playlist below, as I highly recommend it.

This morning I ate a small slice of leftover pizza on the walk to the gym for fuel.

And as soon as I hit publish I’m making the husband and I a smoothie.  I’m pretty hungry but I am planing on doing some wing noshing.  I’ll see you this afternoon.

The Hut

We ended up not going to work out “right then.”  Adam decided to practice anatomy on me – I’m not being cutesie, I’m being literal, he pointed out everything he’d learned on my back.  And then we had a serious serious discussion about what the hell I’m going to do with my life; details to come.

Around 9, we did actually go to the gym.  I did a 2mile run on the treadmill.  With warm up/cool down the totals were – 2.5miles / 250calories / 23minutes.

We are totally out of food, so we went to Pizza Hut from the gym.  Here’s dinner.

and had 3 slices of thin crust veggie lovers.

And we watched My So-Called Life while we ate 🙂  Although to be honest, I ended up having a 4th slice of pizza!  Tomorrow is a busy day, I’ll see you then.

What do you like on your pizza?  I was pretty disappointed with The Hut, I was expecting way more veggies.  I like any and all veggies, and pineapple! but my favorite thing by far is green olives.

Hello, Again

What a week it’s been!  But today it was finally time to rejoin the world of the living.  I got in bed before 10 last night but I didn’t get much sleep because I slept so terribly.  Still, at 9am I pushed myself out of bed.  I put on my workout clothes but I was feeling a little light-headed and our water was empty (we have a Brita filter pitcher, when we refill it we have to give it time to drain through the filter) so I decided breakfast and computer work were in order first.

The husband texted that he would go to the gym with me so I messed around and did business e-mails waiting for him.  For lunch I ate a sliced apple with leftover cheese,

The chips are leftover from our get-together last weekend, we clearly need to go to the grocery store!

And now Adam is home and we are headed out to the gym.  See you this evening.

Only Half Dead

I am the worst blogger on Earth!  I’ve pretty much been asleep since my last post though, so there wasn’t much to write about.  I think my crappy sleep since we moved here has finally caught up with me.

I’m drinking warm milk with honey tonight at 9pm and going straight to bed, so no matter how I feel expect a post tomorrow morning.

That’s Not the Story

Today I am the little train that couldn’t!  My motivation is seriously waning, and there wasn’t much to begin with 🙂  Through a long series of events I got to sleep at 1, making my 9am wake-up perfect.  But then I had to do some work…..and instead I played online. 

I did finish all of my business to-do’s, including calls including but not limited to – a NYC organization that owes me $, a doctor about a questionable mole, my grandpa who just got out of the hospital.

And I had a good breakfast –

Chocolate chocolate grass milk – 12oz So Delicious Unsweetened Coconut Milk, 1/2 scoop Chocolate Amazing Grass, 1.5T Ah-Laska Chocolate syrup.  The syrup made the drink.

I’ve been getting annoyed at Amazing Grass because it doesn’t stir in, but today my syup didn’t really mix either so I think it might actually be the So Delicious.  I’ll have to experiment further.

I’ve decided to give in to my laziness and make a big bowl of popcorn and put on Bones.  I have plenty of time this week to get where I need to be (and my plan is far ahead) in my class.  I am going to go to the gym this afternoon, and I am going to make the fun dinner we have planned.  See you later.
