Uncomfortably Full

I love long weekends! And long weekends with trips are especially fun. It was great to visit with my grandparents, I don’t get to see them as often as I’d like.

Before we hit the road this morning we ate a final fancy breakfast.

Chicken sausage,

egg casserole leftovers, which I ate cold to my husband and grandma’s duress,

and a banana.

We were not as well provisioned for this trip as we were on Saturday. I did the best I could but still arrived home hungry. A low-fat string cheese,

and a Muscle Milk Light bar.

Yeeetch! I took two bites and decided I’d rather go hungry. At least with the dog we stop more often and I grabbed what I really wanted a bit later, candy.

I’ve been badly wanting Twizzlers for a few weeks and after a serving that craving was satisfied.

Webster slept most of our journey which meant I had time to finish the book I started on the drive over.

Hands of My Father is a memoir about a hearing boy’s childhood with two deaf parents. New addition to my top list of book favorites! I had to hold my breath to keep from crying at least once a chapter and I laughed just as often. The setting of a Jewish neighborhood in Brooklyn post Depression lent itself to some good stories.

When we did get home I spent my evening making chili.  And weighing chili, and pricing servings…

This was for a class assignment, and it was beef to boot so I couldn’t even taste it!  Instead Adam and I got take out for dinner.

Tuna melt on sourdough (no butter on the bread) with cheddar cheese and a side of fries.

Plus a slice of carrot cake.

Umm, plus the last two chocolates.

Can we so uncomfortably full?

  1. And this, my dear, is why I love your blog. You are NORMAL. You have days where you work out and weeks you don’t. You have days you eat hardly anything, and days you eat junk, and days you are starving and days you are too full. I just really commend you for posting your life as it is, I cannot tell you how sick I am of blogs full of triathalon plans and miniscule eating.
Thanks again for being a good example

On a side note…going to NYC and staying in Times Square for a long weekend at the end of the month. Good restaruant recommendations? No eating restrictions at all for me or the husband, though I do ‘try’ to be healthy!

    • Thank you so much, I can’t even tell you how badly I needed a sweet comment today! I will admit though, that I ate a bunch of crap today and I’m a little glad to not be posting (my dog just had surgery)! 🙂

      NYC recommendations include –
      1) Sugar, Sweet, Sunshine; a must (must, must) go! The best cupcakes in the city at the best prices in the city. Try the pistachio.
      2) Serendipity 3; I know it’s totally touristy but it’s also totally fun. The sandwiches are wonderful.
      3) Walking around Park Slope, especially on 7th and 5th Avenue (the 7th Ave Stop on the F, 2/3, Q/R trains).
      4) Freemans for brunch; it’s near Sugar Sweet Sunshine and it was one of our favorite breakfast spots.
      5) Renting bikes in Central Park; we did this for my 24th birthday and it was one of my favorite days of my life.

I realize those weren’t all restaurants but the city gets me excited. You guys are going to have so much fun!
