Rocked It

Ahh, accomplishment, finally!  I didn’t get to bed all that early yesterday (I’m not saying anyone was drunk, cough, but Adam sure took a long time to get out of my way in the shower, cough cough) and I kept waking up all night, and then I hit snooze too many times this morning, but at 9am I did manage to actually start my day.

I literally had not been to the gym in a week so that was clearly in order.  I prehydrated while I charged my i-pod and drank this Rockstar Juiced.

DSC00036

This flavor was nowhere near as good as the purple cans but it still made me pretty happy.

All I can say about the gym is – woot!  I don’t know if it was the awesome playlist, the energy drink, or the fact that since I haven’t worked out all week I have to squoosh to make my training plan but I rocked it out.  I did the treadmill, mostly running but with a warm up/cool down and a little Galloway Method towards the end.  45minutes / 4.4miles / 530calories.

After a shower it was time for breakfast.

Nonfat Strawberry Yogurt, plucot, nectarine, 3/4 Cherry Pie Lara Bar.  How gorgeous is this bowl?

While I ate I organized coupons, recipes, and our schedules to come up with a weekly meal plan and shopping list.

Here is what’s on the agenda for today –

  • grocery trip for regular restocking and fun (Within reason, I’m purchasing every product I’ve been eyeing in the organics section of the store.  I’ve been promising myself this ever since I knew I was getting my bonus check this year and I am very excited)
  • recycling
  • mild housecleaning
  • 2loads of laundry
  • schoolwork
  • fun foodie event this evening!

What is one of your favorite gym songs?

(9)(9) Bottles of Beer on the Wall…

Sorry I didn’t post yesterday, as a reward to Adam I went completely technology free and cuddled on the couch.  My husband earned a 100% on his latest exam!  I didn’t do much anyways….

This morning I woke up around 9:30 but did accomplish anything until much later, I didn’t even eat!  I did manage to go downstairs to get some very exciting mail – when I was a teacher I was involved in the Teachers of Tomorrow program, a system to reward teachers in high need schools.  Basically it was hazard pay, a bonus for working in the worst schools.  I got my cash today, woo-who!  I’ve been promising myself that once I got my $ I would buy everything I want (within reason) from the organic section of the grocery store, so that is on the agenda for tomorrow 🙂

At 4o’clock I still hadn’t eaten (or, cough cough, done anything else, cough cough) but I headed out for the mall.  Adam and met up with a couple friends to see 9.  We were all seriously underwhelmed by this movie.  While we watched I ate a thing of pretzel bites, unphotographed.

Afterwards we headed to Pearl Street Brewery.  I had one goal in mind while we were choosing locations –

DSC00032

The beer sampler!  10 2oz pours of local microbrews.

DSC00033

Mmmn.  I drank about 80%, sharing a few sips with the husband.  I also ate this –

DSC00034

It was called “The Incinerator,” cheese, marinara sauce, and hot banana peppers.  It was strange but good.

Adam, Danielle and I came back to our apartment and enjoyed some creepy quality You-Tube.  Has anyone not seen Charlie the Unicorn yet?

Adam actually went out to another bar with a friend so I’m home alone now.  I have to have to have to go to bed early so I actually accomplish something tomorrow.  This was a frustrating week.  I didn’t do any school work which makes me furious at myself and I’m super annoyed that I haven’t worked out all week (even though I know it’s good I didn’t because my leg felt funny it is still frustrating to fall behind my training schedule).  I’ll see you tomorrow.

What is your favorite online video clip?  My girlfriends and I were fairly obsessed with this gem.

Too Nice Spice

I would like to say I’ve snapped out of my funk, but alas this will be another quickie post.  In addition to the ten-bazillion other things I’ve been complaining about, my left ankle really really hurts and I’m nervous about running tomorrow.

This afternoon I stayed home taking care of business until about 3.  I watched a Bones rerun during a break and ate some of the candy my parents sent me from San Francisco.

DSC00026

They bought it because I call my husband bear, and I couldn’t read the packaging so I really didn’t know what to expect.  They ended up being strawberry flavored caramels, similar to Hi-Chews.

DSC00027

I ate 4.

I got to school just in time for my advising appointment, which ended up being a total bust.  I have blocked out some time tomorrow to call people at other schools I am interested.

After the meeting I went to the library to do some printing.  I snuck a snack while I was there.

DSC00028

Um, YUM.  This was a sample of the new Lara Bar flavor and I am totally impressed.

I had some time between the library and my class so I ended up getting “dinner” at the school food court.  The quotes are a sign of disrespect.

DSC00029

I got an Angry Tendercrisp from Burger King.  I am an avid BK hater, but it was one of few options and the “Angry” commercials are seriously the husband’s and my favorite thing on television; we say “waiting for harvest, waiting for vengeance” to each other regularly.  The commercial reminds us of the “Broodwich” episode of ATH and rocks our socks; here is a link to watch it.  Plus, I’m a sucker for spicy sandwiches.  This was pretty bland though, the jalopenos were somehow less spicy than usual.

And now class is over, my drive is over, and I am home again.  I will probably have a small snack at some point before bed but I will post it in the morning. {Snack reminded me actually – this afternoon I had a handful, about 1serving, unphotographed of blue corn chips}  Have a good night.

What kind of spice is your favorite?  Jalopenos are only ok to me, I much prefer wasabi.  My favorite flavor by far though is buffalo.

P.S. A walk was taken, candy was eaten.

Hump Day

Another true fact: I always thought that “Hump Day” was some sort of silly dirty joke that I didn’t get.  It wasn’t until a week or so ago that I put it together with “getting over the hump.”

In spite of not much sleep last night, I woke up at 7am this morning when Adam went to class.  I’ve been doing a little cleaning, i.e. putting away laundry from a week ago!  I also found time for breakfast.

DSC00025

1/2 oats topped with brown sugar, raisins, and skim milk.  I loved this combo as a child; when I was in high school I often ate this as my tv watching snack.

I’ve got class tonight, and an appointment with an advisor on campus, so I’ll be headed to UB this afternoon.  I’ll probably see you for lunch first though.  Laters!

True Facts

1. If you are having a migraine, a sure-fire way of not curing it is to bend down to get a yogurt and bash your head on the fridge.

2. Partly because of the headache, but mostly because it was identical to the night before and tonight, I did not do a dinner post yesterday.  Here is today’s leftovers for dinner photo –

3. This morning I did not hit my head when I got out a yogurt for breakfast, I also didn’t hit my wallet too hard either – this yogurt was on sale for 40cents.

4. I applied for waitressing jobs today, so we’ll see how that goes.  While I was out I bought a turkey sandwich for lunch.

6. This was a super lame post and I apologize to my readers, I do love you guys!

Tell me some true facts from your day!

No Labor Day

Arrgh, I feel like a zombie!  I didn’t even get to go to volunteering today 😦  I didn’t get in bed on time, which is my fault, but I also realized last night that our pillows are partially contributing to the laying awake for hours issue.  I looked at the clock at 4:56 last night and was still awake!  Needless to say, I didn’t get up to study, but when I did get up for volunteering I had such a bad migraine that I called in and went back to bed.  I feel really guilty not going in, but I would have been pretty useless.

Once I did get up, breakfast was an adventure.  I wanted to use this awesome looking egg-cooker my grandmother got me for my wedding shower.

DSC00002

The plan was poached eggs.  The name of the product is “Henrietta Hen,” but 4 eggs in the trash later I was referring to Henrietta as more of a female dog than a bird!

DSC00003

I think the cooker will work great for hard/soft boiled eggs, but poached will have to be gotten from restaurants.  My last ditch, 3rd effort at lunch ended up pretty big.

DSC00005

Tuna salad sandwich on a hamburger bun,

DSC00008

with the leftover salad in the bowl it was mixed in.  I used –

  • 1can tuna, rinsed and drained
  • 1.5T Miracle Whip
  • 2T + pickle relish
  • 1 chopped celery stalk
  • healthy shake paprika

DSC00006

I also had a bowl of chopped pineapple and plumcot (a plum/apricot hybrid that rocked my socks).

DSC00007

Adam and I have been cuddling and watching Bones and I ate two sugar cookies.

DSC00010

MK sent these home with us from the bbq and they are pretty good, very soft (it’s possible that in between round 1 and 2 of the egg making I snatched one of these without photographing!).

Once Adam and I get sick of each other (just kidding!) I’m going to do some school work.  See you for dinner.

Did you get the day off for Labor Day?  Have any big plans?

Sunday Joes

This afternoon Adam I decided that ice-cream was in order so we headed off in search.  We found a local spot on Elmwood that had Cioa Bella gelato, so you know I was all over that.

HPIM4415

I had a small cup of key lime pie, yums!  I said at least 4x whilst eating how good it was.  The store was super-cute, I’m glad we found it.

HPIM4416

On his way home, Adam dropped me off at The Spot to do some studying.  I ate lunch #2 while I was there.

HPIM4417

Iced Americano with skim milk (they call it “skinny moo” on the dispenser which makes me smile),

HPIM4418

and a whole wheat black bean and cheese quesadilla.

HPIM4419

I liked the ww tortillas and the insides included some sort of spicy tomato so it ended up being pretty great.  I ate all of the salad, none of the toppings, and half of the quesadilla.

I studied from 2:45 – 5:15, so I ended up also getting an iced tea.

HPIM4420

Cinnamon Plum, might be my new favorite!

Once I got home I continued my Chemistry organization.

HPIM4421

I already created a GoogleCalendar, but now that I have this todoist  list of due dates I feel fully ready.  When I was in undergrad I wasn’t aware of these online organization applications, but now I am planning on taking full advantage of them.  Seeing everything in black and white in front of me is the only way for me to truly feel comfortable.

Work finished, we got started on dinner.  I did a Rachael Ray recipe, from “The Big Orange Book,” Hot Wing Sloppy Joes.

HPIM4422

Apparently 30minutes only applies if your stove isn’t half broken!!! 😦  It was still good though.

HPIM4428

On the side I got to cook my new original eggplants!

HPIM4424

These white ones seemed so odd to me, but they are the original item, and the reason why the veggie is called an eggplant.  I sliced, sprayed with evoo, sprinkled with nutmeg and chili powder, and roasted them for 30minutes at 450*.

HPIM4426

And since I ate a bun for brunch I ate my ‘joes with a serving of Scoops tortilla chips.

HPIM4427

Delish.

HPIM4425

We drove to Target to pick up a few supplies for Adam, and now we are finishing up a Bones episode.  My goal is bedtime before 11 because I am hope hope hoping I actually get up early to study.  I have volunteering in the middle of the day tomorrow and if I don’t study first I feel like I’ll run out of time.  G’night.

Do you like sloppy joes?  One time when I was a kid, before I stopped eating red meat, I tasted them and fell in love!  My mom makes them pretty well with turkey meat and Rachael Ray has several ‘joe adaptation recipes that I’m excited about.

Sunday Sandwich

I’m a little late on my studying, but it’s been a good morning so far.  We woke up around 9 and managed to head the gym by 10.  My training schedule had me doing 2miles today but my legs were feeling very stiff so I knew to take it easy.  I decided to use the Galloway Method, 2minutes of running followed by 1minute of walking.  With warm up and cool down I did 2.5miles / 25minutes / 260calories.

Before we went I split a Cliff Mojo bar with the husband.

HPIM4411

And when we got home it was time for lunch.

HPIM4412

I made a sandwich out of 4 chicken nuggets, a hamburger bun, and 1T marinara sauce.

HPIM4413

Plus I had some pineapple Adam cut for me while I was in the shower.

HPIM4414

I’m still starving though, so I’m sure a snack is on the horizon.  Plus as soon as we finish our “My So-Called Life” episode (the last one ever, we are so sad!) I have to actually do some studying.  See you for dinner.

Do you ever do the Galloway Method?  I’m planning on mostly just running while I’m training for the half marathon, but it’s nice to give my joints a break.
