When I Grow Up

Sorry I went missing yesterday; I had a hangover, and lots of homework, and dead camera, and a hangover…..

This morning I hopped up and got to work on a project I’ve been putting off – looking at prereqs, getting contact information, and recording submission dates for the programs I am hopefully applying to.  I’ve been dreading it because I’m still not even quite sure what I want to do with my life!!  It’s basically between Dietetics and Anthropology (with a slight chance that I’ll move to LA last minute and pursue a career in acting!).  I’m so frustrated that I already quit a career – two practically because I started college as a communication major and basically completed half the program before I switched to education – and I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up.

I also spent some time working on my (sad, sad) resume.  I’m planning on trying to apply for some random jobs tomorrow but I don’t have high hopes; most people do not want a former teacher as a waitress!  I’ve done retail, waitressing, teaching, and now I’m figuring out my next adventure.

I also ate breakfast.

And now I’m headed to my volunteering shift at the hospital.  There was a short time I thought I wanted to be a nurse, which I’ve since strongly decided against, but I still have a little interest in Physicians Assistant programs (another option!!!).  I’ll be back this afternoon with lunch.

  1. When I was a kid, I wanted to be a teacher, a combine driver and a lawyer.

And now I’m a graduating senior in college and I have no friggin’ clue, although I’ve fallen in love with the nonprofit world and social change and will probably end up working in public policy or a labor organization.

I’m sure your resume isn’t “sad.” All those jobs have skills that can be applied everywhere! Good luck with everything.

P.S. Anthro is my second love 🙂

  2. Oooh, I know this sucks – my husband is also trying to figure out what he wants to be when he grows up.

I always wanted to be a teacher/mom – and now I have one of those things accomplished. One to go. 🙂

Also…I got to sleep in today, thanks for your well wishes!
