Welcome to My 1st Giveaway

My 1st2nd food blog ever is a pretty festive event so I am celebrating with a giveaway.  It runs until noon on Saturday, July 4th (another festive date).  The rules are outlined below.  What am I giving away?  A Flogg.

The fancy (slightly erotic sounding) name basically means a food and exercise log.  The Flogg is a small leather bound book with pages set up to record calorie expenditures and gains.  There is also a reference section in the back with calories for common foods and calories burned for common exercises.

Research has shown that keeping a written record can help you to stick to, and achieve, a goal.  My mom bought me this book as a gift after I spotted a giveaway at Tina’s blog and got intrigued.  It turned out that the Flogg was a little too detailed for me, especially because I already keep a blog, but I think it could be a great tool for someone else.

I will be sending one lucky winner (choosen using a random integer generator) my brand new Flogg free of charge.  The giveaway ends at noon on Saturday, July 4th.  To win –

  1. comment on this page about whether or not your currently keep any sort of food/exercise log
  2. add my new address to your blogroll  OR ‘cc me in an e-mail in which you tell five friends about the blog
  3. for extra chances to win link back to this post from your blog

Good luck!

  1. I love the idea of a flogg (especially b/c of the fun name hehe)! Right now, I keep track of my food on my blog, but I’ve also kept notes on my iphone and in notebooks before. I find it really helps me understand where my energy comes from and what it goes to.

I’ll be sure to link back to your site in my post later today! 🙂

  2. Emily-
Hope all is well 🙂 I am no longer writing on my blog but wanted to keep following yours since it’s great 🙂 Congrats on not beeing a teacher!! I currently keep a food and exercise journal every day and since tday is my bday maybe i’ll get lucky and get a “FLOGG” 🙂 🙂 xoxoxox

  3. Congrats on your new blog!! 🙂 And all my logs are random excel spreadsheets that get lost on my work & home computers… I would love to consolidate them into one handheld journal.

And I’ll be happy to add you to my blogroll!

  4. Congrats on your fresh start!!! And what a great way to mark it, with a brand new blog. 🙂 I will update the Google reader immediately! I used to keep a food/fitness journal, but have actually just recently let it go. Feels great so far!

  5. congrats on the new blog! i’m not keeping any kind of log right now…but it’s probably because i don’t have a cool one like this one!

  6. im extremely detail oriented…so i think a FLOGG would be perfect for me ‘anal’- tendencies thanks!!

    great new blog!

  7. congrats on the new blog & starting a new chapter in your life!!! too bad you’re leaving the old blog cause i really liked your unique name…

i’ve heard of the thing called flogg…funny name. i used to keep a meticulous journal of all my eats, but i slowly weaned away from it. i would love to get back to it and keep myself accountable. ^^

  8. The new blog looks/sounds great!

I don’t reeeeally keep an organized journal, but occassionally i tally my food and/or exercise in the margins of my notebooks. Especially when i am bored at work during meetings. I think it is helpful for really ascertaining my daily intake/outgo (outtake?).

  10. The new blog looks great! I added it to my blogroll 🙂

I have been intrigued by the FLOGG for a long time now. I currently use the Daily Plate (through http://www.livestrong.com) to record exercise and food, but I’ve always been slightly old-fashioned in that I like having writing stuff out by hand! It would also be nice to not feel so tied to my computer all the time 😉
